2 From Gwinnett Killed in Accident Near Cartersville

Two men from Gwinnett County are dead following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Bartow County.

Georgia State Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck, Oscar Dominguez Proenza, 23, of Lawrenceville, and the passenger Ronald Omar Bran, 23, of Norcross, died in an accident around 3:31 p.m. June 17 along U.S. 411/S.R. 20 near mile marker 5, west of Cartersville.

Initial reports show a white Ford Super Duty pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the highway when “the driver failed to maintain his lane,” said agency spokesperson Tracey Watson.

Watson said the truck left the right side of the road, crossed a ditch and struck a tree. The passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

The driver was transported to Cartersville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation.
