27-Year Old Man Identified In Fatal Dacula Crash, Driver Charged

Police say the victim's motorcycle collided with a white Chevrolet Tahoe. The biker later died from his injuries.

DACULA, GA—The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that resulted in the death of a 27-year old man in Dacula. The original incident occurred on Saturday, Feb. 15, around 7:30 p.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, Braetan Petraro, 27, of Powder Springs was traveling east on Braselton Highway and was approaching the Hamilton Creek Parkway intersection on his white motorcycle.

Police say as he was continuing to drive straight, the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe attempted to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The vehicles collided. Braetan was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, Braetan died as a result of his injuries in the collision, according to police.

The driver of the white Tahoe, Samuel Perry, 63, of Hoschton has been charged with homicide by vehicle 2nd degree and failure to yield turning left. He has not yet been arrested, though police say he is aware of the charges.
