49 Gwinnett Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation released the list of 16,000 semifinalists in its 60th scholarship program this week, including 49 Gwinnett County students (listed below).

The semifinalists are in the running for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth $33 million, according to a press release.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to advance, and half of those will win a scholarship and earn the title of Merit Scholar.
