A Few Weather Updates for Monday
If we just had a beach, you might think you were in Florida!
Since the Patch is currently not sending blog comments to the front page, and once the blog post gets pushed off the page you can't see if there are any comments, I'll just have to make a new post! :-) Until they get things fixed, I might have to make more frequent post just so you can see all of the updates. Sorry!
We were 3 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday, and the moisture is on the increase. Precipitable water values are creeping over 1.5" and dew points are on the rise. Today will be a little steamier than yesterday along with a greater chance of afternoon and evening showers and thundershowers than yesterday.
A line of showers are developing to our west in Alabama and our entire area should see a decent coverage of rain before the day is over. This area of showers is associated with a shortwave moving through the lower Mississippi Valley, throw in a dose of ample moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic, and we'll see begin to see scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon according to the NWS. As usual with a summertime weather pattern here, after the sun sets the showers should diminish with the loss of the daytime heating.
The WPC had this to say in their Short Range Discussion this morning:

... high pressure off the East Coast will aid in streaming moisture inland across the Southeast and the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast producing showers and thunderstorms over the area through Tuesday.
The models are still depicting a cold front approaching our area this weekend which will bring slightly cooler temperatures for the beginning of next week.
