Are You Meeting Your Business Resolutions?

As the third quarter of 2011 begins, take time to assess and adjust your business goals.

In just a few short days we will come to the end of Q2 and it got me to thinking about how the year has gone so far in my business. Have I my met my mid-year goals? How does Q3 and Q4 look moving forward? Is there anything I need to change or adjust in my business plan for the balance of 2011?

Back in December, I took a long look at my business and what I needed to do to make this year one of my best. So far so good for me. Business is booming and the real estate market is continuing to move forward. Granted, there is a lot of work to be done industry-wide but my business is very hyperlocal and I can have a large impact on how things go.

My 2011 goals, or resolutions if you will, are a ever evolving and changing game plan that must be fluid. What I mean is that they are always changing. What works in one quarter of the year may or may not work in the next so I need to be prepared ahead of time so I am not stuck behind the 8-ball.

For me, the biggest change has been the social media side of things. More and more options are available for both myself and other small business owners. A perfect example is the Patch product that has hit the market in the past six months and has really taken off.  I have been given the opportunity to write this article on a weekly basis, which I had not planned in my original 2011 plans and goals, but here I am writing away. Changes are the one constant in my and any business owners year.

So with that, let me ask you, how are you doing with your 2011 business resolutions? Are your where you want to be? Have you been able to gain a larger client base? How are your costs doing? Where is your new business coming from, you do know that don't you?

If you have not made a plan for 2011, it is not too late. Set some goals for the balance of the year and get to work meeting them. It will give you a good start to building a highly successful and profitable business moving forward.
