Body Found Near Fla. Beach May Be Missing Gwinnett Teen

Aaron Miller, 17, was reportedly last seen Sunday afternoon in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

A body found floating in shallow water near a Volusia County, Fla., beach Monday is believed to that of a missing Gwinnett County teenager.

WFTV in Orlando reported the body of a young man was found floating in the water by a husband and wife who were swimming nearby. The identity of the body is pending confirmation by the medical examiner.

Aaron Miller, 17, has been missing since 5 p.m. Sunday, according to police. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Miller is from Lawrenceville. Miller was reportedly visiting the area after his high school graduation.

According to the Orlando TV station, Miller was last seen while swimming off New Smyrna Beach. Friends reported seeing him get swept away.

WESH-TV, also in Orlando, reported the couple thought the body was driftwood until they got closer. They pulled it ashore and called police.

MyFoxOrlando reported rip currents have caused several problems in the area recently. More than 400 beach rescues were reported in Volusia County during the past week; at least four have drowned.
