Headed to the Gulf of Mexico Beaches for Vacation?

Very rainy week for Florida's west coast beaches.

The official start to the hurricane season was June 1, and there are already signs of activity that may effect the Florida beaches in a few days.

The models have been indicating that a surface low pressure system will form over the eastern Gulf of Mexico by mid-week and possibly bring copious amounts of rainfall to the west coast of Florida. Precipitable water values will approach 2.6" which is just shy of record values and in the 99th percentile range for that area, leading to very heavy rainfall amounts in numerous showers and thunderstorms. I have numerous tropical pages that you can follow to keep track of the tropical weather, and the tropical discussion is here. Links on that page will take you to other tropical related pages.

The normally calm and serene Gulf waters are forecast to become rough with seas increasing to 8-9 feet. The wind and sea forecast is here.

The exact timing, intensity, and location of the low pressure system that will bring the rainy weather is still unknown, so if you're headed to the beach, you may want to stay on top of future developments by following the weather here at DaculaWeather.com. I have forecast and forecast discussions for every location in Florida that you may be going to, all directly from the National Weather Service. Here's  good starting place for your Florida weather.

The good news is that this low pressure shoud move out by the weekend and normal summer weather should return in it's place.
