Will Spring Showers Bring Our April Flowers?
Enjoy the spring time weather pattern we have in place.

A moist low level easterly flow off the Atlantic is bringing cloudy conditions for most of Georgia today in advance of a cold front that's expected to make it into the Atlanta area by Thursday night. Winds are veering from the south at 5,000 feet and at 18,000 feet they are from the west-southwest, bringing moisture to all levels of the atmosphere. (You can use this page to view the winds at different heights as well as many other weather parameters)
Because of that, we will have clouds at different levels (go here and click on Visible Loop to see the clouds moving from different directions) and coverage today as the low level winds slowly turn from the east to the south and eventually to the southwest, where warm moist Gulf air will help provide the needed energy for rain and showers on Thursday night. Right now it appears that this will be primarily a rain event only with only a very small chance for a thundershower. Rain chances continue off and on through Tuesday of next week.
Temperatures over the next several days will be following the trends from this winter and will be running 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of year.
So nothing serious in the forecast right now except for few rain showers which we still desperately need, much of the state is still in an extreme drought situation and any rain is welcomed at this point.
