Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:23 a.m. and due to the size of the blaze had to battle it from outside. The fire was under control at 5:30 a.m., the department said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fireplace was being used at the time of the incident, but it’s unknown whether it played a role in starting the fire.

Two people were displaced, but denied Red Cross assistance.
