Dacula Receptionist Retiring After 34 Years

Charlyne Fuller was "always ready to laugh with you, cry with you, pray with you," Dacula's longtime mayor said.

DACULA, GA -- For 34 years, Charlyne Fuller was the face of Dacula city government to many people.

Now, as she retires from her post, city leaders are honoring her for how she performed in that role.

"Charlyne is always ready to laugh with you, cry with you, or pray with you over your problem," longtime Dacula Mayor Jim Wilbanks said in a post on the city's website. "If I could possibly sum up her 34-year work ethic, it would have to be 'a soft answer turns away anger.' "

Fuller's service was celebrated at Thursday's city council meeting.

Wilbanks presented Fuller with the City Council Appreciation Plaque and the Mayor's 201 Movers & Makers Award for he longtime service.

"All of us who work at a city hall know that people who come by or call usually have a problem," Wilbanks said. "Those persons may be distraught or mad or both. The first person you encounter makes the reason for the call or visit better or worse.

"With Charlyne at the Dacula City Hall, you most often got the better outcome."

Fuller's last day on the job will be April 27. She will be replaced by Amy Morris.
