Dacula Schools Locked Down Over Weapon Threat

A student who was reported as possibly having a weapon left campus, spurring the lockdown.

DACULA, GA — Dacula High School and neighboring Dacula Middle School were placed on lockdown Wednesday following a report that a student may have a weapon on campus.

The possible weapon sighting was at the high school, said Gwinnett County Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach. Dacula Middle School is located across the street.

The student reported with a weapon left campus. School resources officers and police were notified and began a search for that student.

The schools were locked down as a precaution during that time, Roach said. The lockdown was lifted at about 1:50 p.m., following world that the person police were looking for had been apprehended.

The schools followed their normal schedule for dismissal.
