Dacula Schools: Mill Creek Dance Team Wins State Competition, Jones Middle Principal Honored

- Mill Creek High’s Dance Team participated in the Georgia High School Dance Competition and won 1st place in Pom, 1st place in Jazz, and was the Overall competition winner. In addition, Caytlin Tuchschmidt received 3rd place in the solo division. Team members include Nyla Atkins, Maddie Doyle, Maddie Govedich, Megan Govedich, Birdie Jackson, Kelsey Kempner, Erica LaBadie, Joyanna Peterson, Jennifer Starkman, Bayla Thompson, Caytlin Tuchschmidt, Ashlyn Taliaferro, and Reagan Willis.
- The Mill Creek Cluster Education Foundation honored Jones Middle Principal Dr. Richard Holland with its annual “Partner in Education” award for his leadership and support of the Mill Creek cluster schools. Dr. Holland has worked in education for 36 years, including five as a teacher in Ohio before he came to Gwinnett 31 years ago. The Foundation began in 2004 and has awarded more than $100,000 in grants to schools in the Mill Creek cluster, including about $10,000 this year. For more information, visit www.mccef.org.
- Mountain View High chorus members Kasey Bell and Aubrey Peat have been selected to perform with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Honor Choir. The ACDA National Conference is the largest conference in the nation for choral directors and includes public, private, K-12, and university level participants. Kasey will sing with the National High School Mixed Choir and Aubrey will sing with the National College Community Latin American Choir.
