Over a year ago, Jackson Deal was home with his father where he found his father collapsed at the top of the stairs.

Unable to find a phone to call 911, Deal was about to run to the neighborhood pool to get his older sister to help when a neighbor stopped and helped him call for help.

A blood clot between his father’s heart and lungs caused his father’s collapse, and Deal’s swift call to action saved his father’s life.

β€œThe Lifesaving Medal of Merit is a very rare award to be given, and we are thrilled to be able to witness Jackson receiving this. Jackson Deal is the true example of a scout,” said Pack 597 Cubmaster Todd Galucki.

What will make the evening even more special is the fact that Jackson Deal does not know that he is receiving the award tonight. The application for this award has been in the process for a year.

Pack 597 is chartered by Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula.

An interesting note: Jackson’s father is an Eagle Scout.
