Brenau Nursing Students Participate in Community Emergency Preparedness Event

GAINESVILLE, GA -- Over 40 Brenau University nursing students collaborated with Northeast Georgia Medical Center in a regional emergency preparedness event June 2, 2015 The event simulated community residents injured by a large tornado. Participating as casualties, the nursing students were assigned specific injuries and roles to challenge public safety agencies and the medical centers with a victim surge.

Local students included:

  • Annie Ranus of Hoschton, Georgia, is majoring in nursing.
  • Jessica Fowler of Dacula, Georgia, is majoring in nursing.
  • Nicole Matthews of Dacula, Georgia, is majoring in nursing.

Mary Lekeaka from Dacula Receives Academic Award at Brenau Honors Convocation

GAINESVILLE, GA -- Mary Lekeaka from Dacula, Georgia, was honored for academic excellence at Brenau University’s Honors Convocation on April 16 by winning Robin Smith Dudley Scholarship. Lekeaka is a 2015 student with a major in nursing.

Georgia State: Shaina Aifuwa Awarded Memorial Scholarship

ATLANTA, GA -- Shaina Aifuwa of Dacula received the William G. Nolan Memorial Scholarship Award at the College of Arts and Sciences 2015 Honors Day Ceremony. The William G. Nolan Memorial Scholarship Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate good academic standing and show leadership and citizenship at Georgia State University and surrounding communities. This fund was created in memory of former biology Associate Professor William G. Nolan.

John Armsby Graduates from Georgia State College of Law

ATLANTA, GA -- John Armsby of Dacula graduated from Georgia State University College of Law at the college’s 31st commencement ceremony on May 15. Georgia State Law’s Class of 2015 included 166 graduates from full-time and part-time programs. Among them, 58 graduated with pro bono distinction, donating nearly 14,000 hours of legal counsel and service. Nearly 60 graduated with academic honors. This marks the college’s 31st commencement and hooding ceremony.
