Dacula Woman Killed in Interstate 85 Crash

She wasn't wearing a seat belt when her car struck another, causing both to crash, police said.

DACULA, GA — A Dacula woman was killed Tuesday when her car struck another on Interstate 85, causing both to crash.

Gwinnett County Police say Kala S. Parham was driving her 2002 Toyota Camry northbound at about 9 a.m. on I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road.

The driver of a second vehicle, Michael A. Provost, of Sugar Hill, told police that Parham passed him on the left, then began veering into his lane.

She struck the left, front fender of his Jeep Wrangler with the back panel of her Camry, causing both vehicles to fly off the road and into a culvert, police said.

Parham was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles were impounded and police are continuing to investigate the wreck.
