Politics & Government
Do You Trust the Government Most of the Time?
Most people don't. What else do recent polls have to say about the mindset of the electorate?

The President’s approval rating dropped to the 47% of likely voters last week, the lowest level of approval in nine months. The following issues are on the voters’ minds:
- 57% believe that NSA snooping will be used to harass political opponents
- The IRS mess ditto
- The Benghazi mess is still on the mind of voters
- 24% trust the government most of the time
- 31% of voters think it’s right to provide military assistance to Syrian rebels
- Appointment of unqualified persons to high levels in the government
- Supreme Court filled with ivy-leaguers, not representative of the country
- Debt and inflation
- Federal spending
So just like any other poll, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These approval rating polls probably accurately depict those who were a part of the poll, but do they represent the voting public? Only the mid-term elections will say for sure.
Here’s my bet. Spending for candidates in the 2014 mid-term election by each party will be very high. Election turnout will be mediocre, and most federal incumbents will be re-elected. Red states will remain red, and Blue states will remain blue. Independent candidates will rarely be elected.
