It's been a great couple of months for us and we've loved hosting our student. Just last night we were discussing how sad it will be when he goes back to Denmark. A month ago we referred to Denmark as home but now we consider this his home. How things change so quickly.
Seeing life through the eyes of an outsider really brings things into perspective for our family, you don't realize all of the little things in life until they excite someone else. What things you ask?
Our newest "family member" thinks it's amazing that we get free refills on soda, that we have all you can eat buffets, that we ride a bus to school when it's only 2 miles away, a day at the mall is one of the greatest joys, a movie is only $10, it's still 60 degrees in November, teens can drive at the age of 16 but cannot drink until they are 21 and the most incredible thing of all is how we manage to fit 3500+ students into one single high-school.
Oh, the little things of life!
I'm sure the next 6 months will fly by and we are systematically trying to make sure that we impose every American tradition, cultural experience, food, etc... on him so he returns to Denmark with nothing but happy thoughts!
