Former Michigan Tech Basketball Player to Be Laid to Rest

Glen Hulquist was a retired appraiser and also a tennis player, former basketball player and Sunday school teacher. Memorial service to be held at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church.

Glen Hultquist, age 77, of Hoschton, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather to his family.

Hultquist was born Oct. 24, 1933 in Norway, Mich. He was a 1951 graduate of Iron Mountain High School, Iron Mountain, Mich. and a 1955 graduate of Michigan Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree. While at Michigan Tech, he played four years of varsity basketball. He was an all-state basketball honoree in Michigan. He also attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee for his postgraduate work. He was a retired M.A.I. appraiser from the business he owned, Appraisal Services, Inc. in Dunwoody. He played ALTA tennis and participated in the Peachtree Road Race.  He was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a member of in Dacula.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Brita Hultquist; brother, Donald Hultquist; and sister, Dolores Ploegman. He is survived by his wife of more than fifty years, Lee Hultquist of Hoschton; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Ty Milner of Hoschton, Lisa and Eric Rice of Duluth, Julie and Barry Blount of Oakridge, N.C., Wendy and Glenn Holley of Hoschton, and Amy and David Braschler of Hoschton; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lori Hultquist of Hoschton; 17 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Hultquist of Kingsford, Mich.; brother-in-law, Peter Ploegman of Lombard, Ill. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula with Pastor Dr. David Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, Youth Sports Program Scholarship Fund in memory of Glen A. Hultquist.
