Man With Autism Receives Standing Ovation On 'American Idol'
Sam Finelli, 28, from Gwinnett County auditioned Sunday night on "American Idol." Judges gave him a standing ovation.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA β A 28-year-old Gwinnett County man with autism made it to the next round Sunday on "American Idol."
Sam Finelli, who works at a Peachtree Corners bakery, was the last person to audition in Sunday nightβs episode of βAmerican Idol.β During his introduction, his mother shared that Finelli was diagnosed with autism, but is high-functioning.
βItβs just a small part of who I am. Itβs not all of who I am,β Finelli said in the cameras.
βIt was lonely growing up, but music was my best friend.β

He performed Kacey Musgraveβs βRainbow,β in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Finelli received a standing ovation.
βThis is my dream, and Iβm ready to go after my dream,β he said.
