Here are the top three stories in Dacula today:
- Gwinnett County Public Schools notified parents that a gun was located in an elementary school classroom on Wednesday. A school staff member discovered the gun under a box of donated classroom supplies at Britt Elementary School. The district's police are investigating the incident. It is unclear where the gun came from. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Gwinnett County has declared Sunday as Purple Heart Day. A Purple Heart is awarded to service members that were wounded or killed in action. The proclamation is meant to recognize residents that obtained the country's oldest military honor. Purple Heart Day in Gwinnett County will be on Aug. 7 each year. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
- The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested a man for the murder of his wife. The incident occurred on Tuesday night at an apartment complex on Bethesda Church Road. Glenroy Roberts has been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder. He originally told police that she shot herself but the medical examiner identified multiple gunshot wounds. (WSBTV)
