Gwinnett Man Loses $31,000 In Online Car Scam

Police say a suspect withdrew the money from several metro Atlanta banks, including one in Dacula.

DACULA, GA — A Gwinnett County man was scammed out of $31,000 in an online car deal, police say.

The man, from Auburn, was attempting to buy a 2013 Infinity QX56 from who he thought was an out-of-state dealer over the internet.

On November 3, Gwinnett County Police say the man wired $31,400 to a BB&T account at the direction of the seller.

He was told the vehicle would be delivered within the following week, but it was never delivered and the seller stopped all communications.

The victim's money was traced to a BB&T account that was opened by someone under a fake identity.

Police say the funds were withdrawn by the person in the photos below at several metro Atlanta locations, including the BB&T at 3485 Braselton Hwy. in Dacula.
