New Gwinnett High School Names Mascot
Seckinger High is still under construction, but is expected to open in August.
GWINNETT COUNTY - Gwinnett County’s new high school announced Tuesday its new mascot, according to a news release. Seckinger High is still under construction, but the school is working on fostering a culture where students will thrive. A part of that was determining the school’s mascot and colors.
The Seckinger Jaguars will be formally introduced in August when school starts. New principal, Memorie Reesman has been meeting with members of her new school community, leading them through a process in which they shared their thoughts and their hopes regarding learners, the new school, and their community.
“Meeting with the community, parents, and students of the new Seckinger Cluster as we worked to define and build our school community has been a highlight in my professional career,” Reesman said in a statement.

“We have laid the groundwork for a school culture that is focused on students and how to best provide them a next-generation learning experience in which they can excel in academics, athletics, and the arts. As the hub of the district’s first theme cluster, Seckinger’s focus on artificial intelligence is uncommon… just like the black jaguar that will represent our school.”
Feedback gathered during the focus groups guided the selection of the school colors—Pantone 312C Blue, Pantone 421 Gray, Pantone 423 Gray, and Pantone Black 6—and the jaguar as the mascot.

The high school, located at 3655 Sardis Church Road in Buford, will serve Jones Middle School and Harmony, Ivy Creek, and Patrick elementary schools.
At the high school, students will be able to choose areas of focus within schools of study that focus on the humanities, international business, and advanced sciences and technology, with a focus on artificial intelligence. Seckinger Cluster elementary schools and the middle school will be preparing students for their high school experience by introducing AI and future-ready skills.
