Hamilton Mill Area Pawn Store Planned
Permit request to go before the Gwinnett County Planning Commission on Sept. 6.
A pawn store may soon occupy space in the strip mall next to the Hamilton Mill Walmart.
USA Money Services has requested a special use permit for a 1,658-square-foot pawn shop to be located at 2590 Hamilton Mill Road, suite 107.
A gold buying business was previously located at the site. USA Money Services purchased the gold buying business with the intent to turn the site into a full service pawn shop according to the permit application.

No exterior changes are planned for the building.
The planning department has recommended approval of the request with conditions including:

- Hours of operation shall be limited to between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- No outdoor sales, storage or displays will be allowed.
- Neon, LED or blinking window or wall signs will be prohibited.
- No banners, streamers or roping decorated with flags, tinsel or other similar material shall be displayed, hung or strung on the site.
In the application review, the planning department noted “the requested special use may be suitable given the intensely developed nature of the Hamilton Mill Road/Interstate 85 interchange.”
The planning commission will consider the request on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. The commission meets at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
