Hawks Ready for Showdown with Brookwood
Both squads prepare to hit the road after victories a week ago.

When the boys basketball team takes on Brookwood High School on Friday, it will be a matter of how well the Hawks use their size and speed to take advantage of Brookwood's youth.
Head Coach Chad Rogers said he had been implementing a defensive approach to the game during his practices to combine with the Hawks' quickness in an attempt to wear out Brookwood's players as the game progresses.
"I'd like to run on them a little bit and run controlled to get some open looks," Rogers said. "Offensively, I want to take advantage of our height. We have to shoot well and prevent them from shooting well from the three-point line. That's our number one concern."

The 5–2 Hawks held a strong team to just 38 points in a victory Saturday. This defense is what Rogers said he wants to see implemented against Brookwood this weekend.
Senior captain Ronald Wamer said that even with Mill Creek's defense as strong as it is, there is still room for improvement offensively.

"Our defense is getting better at putting pressure on teams," Wamer said. "Our offense is a little weak, but we're getting that straightened up. Basically we just drive our defense."
The Mill Creek boys team will tip off against Brookwood at 7:30 p.m. at the Brookwood High School gymnasium.
The Lady Hawks will be facing an undefeated Brookwood team that has been simply blowing away its competition. The smallest margin of victory Brookwood has seen this season is nine points in a Nov. 23 victory over Marietta.
The Mill Creek girls have shown an ability to score this season, especially in a Dec. 7 79–39 victory over Mountain View. They also showed their defensive strength Saturday in a 60–28 victory over Dacula. Freshman Jasmine Carter and senior Alicia Brookins led the way for the Lady Hawks with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Mill Creek girls team takes on Brookwood at 6 p.m. at the Brookwood High School gymnasium.
