House Fire Near Dacula Started By Unattended Food Cooking on Stove

Food left unattended on the stove was the apparent cause of a house fire reported Sunday night near Dacula.

The fire started in the kitchen after 11 p.m. in the 2200 block of Harbins Road, according to a Gwinnett Fire alert. “Occupant of the residence stated that he left food on the stove unattended, once he returned to the kitchen he found that the stove had caught fire,” the department said.

There were no injuries.

Most of the damage was contained to the kitchen. There were no working fire detectors in the house; firefighters installed detectors before leaving.
