DACULA, GA — A 55-year-old Lawrenceville man accused of four bank robberies is in custody after being arrested by the Gwinnett County Police Department on Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Atlanta announced Monday.

Eric Letman faces federal bank robbery charges after he was arrested when a bank teller in Dacula noticed a suspicious vehicle driving around the bank on Friday, FBI officials said. The teller recognized the vehicle from news reports as possibly being involved in four other bank robberies – the most recent of which took place last week in Lawrenceville – according to a news release.

The teller called 911 and Gwinnett County officers came to the bank and stopped the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officers found evidence connected to four previous bank robberies, the FBI announced Monday.

The FBI had previously been seeking the suspect involved in the four bank robberies, three of which involved the suspect firing shots inside the bank, the FBI said. In June, a PNC bank branch in Lawrenceville was robbed when a suspect described as being a Black male between 50 and 60 years old, demanded money from the teller and fired two shots into the wall above the teller.

Then, over a two-day period between Aug. 26 and 27, the FBI said the suspect matching the same description entered banks in Dacula and Grayson and had a gun in his left hand. In the Grayson robbery, the suspect fired one shot into the wall above the teller and demanded money. On Aug. 26, the suspect demanded money, but did not fire a shot, according to the FBI.

On Oct. 26, the suspect matching the same description entered the PNC bank at the same location of the June robbery in Lawrenceville and fired two shots into the wall above the teller. Like in the previous robberies, the suspect fit the same description, but was wearing a woman’s wig and was believed to be driving a black Chrysler 300.
