Mall Of Georgia Plans Fireworks, Movie For Fourth of July

The 15th Annual Star Spangled Fourth on July 4th 2017 will feature live music and a Kid's Zone at the Mall of Georgia on Independence Day.

BUFORD, GA — Fireworks, live music and a movie will highlight the Fourth of July celebration at Mall of Georgia.

Presented by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the mall's 15th annual Star Spangled Fourth event begins at 5 p.m. on the Fourth, when the Kid Zone opens and live music by The Woody's is scheduled.

A1A, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, will follow, playing from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at dusk. And, after the fireworks, "The LEGO Batman Movie," (Rated PG) will be shown on a 70-foot outdoor screen.

Fireworks will be launched from the Von Maur overflow lot. No parking or sitting will be allowed in that lot, which will be clearly marked according to organizers.

The best parking area for easy entrance and exit will be in the Dillard's lot, according to mall officials.

The event will be at Mall of Georgia, 3333 Buford Drive, Buford, GA 30519.

While there's a 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday night, the latest weather forecast for metro Atlanta looks promising for fireworks time. According to the National Weather Service, the best chance for a thunderstorm will be before 7 p.m. and, by 9 p.m., the chance of rain will be down to about 18 percent.
