19-Year-Old Shot and Killed At Dacula McDonald's

Police are investigating the possibility that the shooting of Kyree Shakur Smith, of Lawrenceville, was drug related.

DACULA, GA — A 19-year-old from Lawrenceville was shot and killed Monday in what police are saying may have been a drug-related homicide.

Kyree Shakur Smith was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a black passenger car at the McDonald's on Hamilton Mill Road near Dacula. The call to police came at 8:46 p.m.

A Gwinnett County Police officer performed CPR on Smith until a crew from the Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived. Smith was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he died, police say.

In a news release Tuesday, police said they are "looking into the possibility" that the shooting was drug related.

Police Tuesday had no description of a possible suspect but said a red passenger car was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

Another 19-year-old man was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, but he was uninjured, police say.
