Gwinnett Police Public Information Officer Cpl. Michele Pihera said in an email late Tuesday that the shooting occurred some time after two detectives were at the residence investigating a previous terroristic threats/acts incident.
The male suspect arrived at the house in a minivan while the detectives were inside. While standing on the front porch, he pulled out a gun, Pihera said.

“One of the detectives discharged his weapon as the suspect may have been attempting to commit suicide,” Pihera said in the email. “The suspect in this case died as a result of his injuries, and his body came to rest outside the home along the walkway/driveway.
“We are still investigating whether the suspect died as a result of suicide or if it is a result of the officer discharging his firearm.”
Members of the Deadly Force Investigation Team and the Crime Scene Unit were still on the scene late Tuesday.
