Man in Custody After Fatal Stabbing Near Braselton Highway

Gwinnett Police said incident was "domestic in nature."

Gwinnett Police have a man in custody after a deadly stabbing Wednesday afternoon near Dacula.

Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said officers responded at 2:27 p.m. to 1633 Country Wood Drive, located off Braselton Highway in unincorporated Hoschton, where witnesses said they saw one man standing over another man in the street. The second man was clearly injured.

Both men were in the street when police arrived.

“The injured subject had apparently been stabbed and was transported from the scene by ambulance. He died a short time later as a result of his injuries,” Smith said in an email. “The suspect was on scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident. There are no other suspects in this case.”

Police are withholding the identities of the suspect and the victim until next of kin is contacted.

Smith said the preliminary investigation indicates the incident was “domestic in nature.”

Alert from Gwinnett Police:

The Gwinnett County Police is currently investigating a violent assault that took place between two men at the 1600 blk of Country Woods Lane in unincorporated Hoschton near the Barrow County line off of Braselton Hwy. Police have one person of interest detained and the victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center to be treated for life threatening injuries.
