Proposed Congressional Map Places Dacula in 10th District
Gwinnett portions of Braselton and Hoschton also moved out of 7th District.
Under the newly proposed state congressional district map, the citizens of Dacula will no longer be in Georgia’s 7th District.
The new map shows Georgia’s 10th District, currently represented by Republican Paul Broun, shifting westward into territory currently represented by Republican Rob Woodall. Woodall will also lose Barrow and Walton counties and part of Newton County if the proposed map is approved.
In an emailed statement, Woodall said the General Assembly had to make some tough choices.

“I love the 7th District, and I've been hopeful it would retain as many of my current constituents as possible,” he wrote. “More importantly, I've been a strong advocate for keeping as many counties and communities in the district as intact as possible. Given the exponential growth across the district, however, the General Assembly has to make some difficult decisions to shrink the 7th District and the early indicators show that it will narrow to only Gwinnett and Forsyth counties.”
Woodall said the redistricting would not affect the legislative decisions he makes as he continues to serve his current constituents.

The proposed maps must have state legislative and federal judicial approval before they become final.
