RBC USA Bank to Become PNC on March 2

RBC Bank USA customers will become PNC customers this weekend.

In June of 2011, the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announced the sale of its United States regional retail banking operations to the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (PNC). The $3.62 billion transaction is expected to close Friday, March 2.

“PNC is a market-leading organization that can build on the recent improvements we have made in operations and effectively serve clients as the market returns to more stable conditions,” said Jim Westlake, group head, International Banking and Insurance, RBC in a released statement. “We are pleased that this is the best outcome for all of our stakeholders.”

The and other U.S. RBC branches will close at 4 p.m on March 2 as part of the conversion to PNC. The branch will reopen Monday, March 5 as PNC.

According to a statement posted on the RBC USA bank site, PNC "look[s] forward to introducing you to the many customer conveniences and advantages of our extensive banking network."

PNC has more than 2,900 branches in 19 states and the District of Columbia as well as more than 7,100 ATMs. PNC services include personal and business banking, corporate and institutional banking, asset management and residential mortgage banking.

The RBC to PNC conversion schedule is as follows:

Friday, March 2

• 7 a.m. PNC customer service is available until 10 p.m.: 1-855-680-5870.

• 8 a.m. Activate and start using PNC Bank check card/banking card. Personal ID number (PIN) remains the same.

• 8 a.m. RBC Bank ATMs are PNC Bank ATMs.

• 4 p.m. RBC Bank Online Banking is no longer available for accounts transferring to PNC Bank (until Monday at 8 a.m.).

• 4 p.m. RBC Bank branches close for the weekend.

Saturday, March 3

• 8 a.m. PNC customer service is available by phone until 5 p.m.: 1-855-680-5870.

Sunday, March 4

• 8 a.m. PNC customer service is available by phone until 5 p.m.: 1-855-680-5870. 

Monday, March 5

• Branches reopen as PNC Bank.

• Customers will have new PNC Bank routing/transit and account numbers.

• 7 a.m. PNC customer service is available until 10 p.m.: 1-855-680-5870.

• 8 a.m. PNC Online, Mobile and Text Message Banking are available.
