Robinson was a friend of the child’s mother and assisted the estranged couple in custody exchanges. The crime happened on Dec. 28, 2013 during one of those exchanges.

“After the child went inside the home, Mr. Griffin came to the car to talk with Ms. Robinson, purportedly about child support payments. Griffin then brutally stabbed her multiple times as she sat in her car,” The district attorney’s office said in an email Monday.

Robinson died at the scene.

Griffin, reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia, pleaded guilty Thursday, May 28.
