Road Projects, Election Resolutions on Council Agenda

Meeting to be held Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Several items related to this year’s municipal election are on the agenda for the Thursday, July 7, Dacula City Council meeting.

The council is scheduled to vote on resolutions to appoint Kay Partain as both the 2011 election superintendent and absentee ballot clerk and Jim Osborn and Charlyne Fuller as the assistant election superintendents and assistant absentee ballot clerks. The council will also set the number of qualifying days for the 2011 election. Typically, the City of Dacula has a three-day qualifying period. The qualifying period is scheduled to begin August 29.

Additionally, the council will decide Thursday night whether to authorize the city to advertise for construction bids for two pending construction projects.

The first, the Williams Farm Drive asphalt base reclamation and replacement, will address a road City Administrator Jim Osborn described as “probably among the worst and most deteriorated in the city.” Approximately 2,170 linear feet of roadway will be re-paved during the project.

The second construction project entails site work and construction of the city’s new maintenance facility. Both projects will be fully funded with SPLOST proceeds.
