Several Car Break-Ins Reported While Victims Ate Dinner

Inside the police reports: Cars were entered in the parking areas at Chili's, El Molcajete on Hamilton Mill Road.

Gwinnett Police are investigating several car break-ins reported last weekend while the victims were eating at Hamilton Mill Road restaurants.

At least five break-in were reported, according to police incident reports obtained by Patch, all during the same time frame and apparently by similar methods.

Four of the break-ins were reported in the parking lot of the Chili’s restaurant at 2705 Hamilton Mill Road, the other in the parking lot of El Molcajete at 2590 Hamilton Mill Road.

All were reported to have occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. on Jan 16, according to the incident reports.

In four of the break-ins police believe a screwdriver was used to break rear window; a screwdriver was likely used to punch out a door lock on the fifth report.

Police were investigating the El Molcajete break-in, when a call came in about the crimes at Chili’s.

Stolen were a 9 mm Glock handgun, Mac Brook Pro, iPod, purse, wallet, gym bag and cash.
