Synopsis:
"The Tempest will enthrall and enchant audiences of all ages. Beginning with a storm and a shipwreck, The Tempest unfolds on a magical, deserted island where Prospero and his daughter Miranda have been stranded for 12 years. The story of sibling rivalry, romance and comedy with more than a bit of magic and lots of redemption, The Tempest, is one of Shakespeare's most loved plays.
"An endless source of mystery and fascination to audiences, actors and students alike, The Tempest has been performed in more different ways and genres than any other work in the canon, if not the world. Is it a pantomime, a fairy tale, a love story, an adventure, an allegory, a moral tale or actually an elaborate game of chess? How much do we see mystical magic and how much skilled illusion? Who has the upper hand in this "brave new world" - the native islanders or the educated voyagers? Physical action, slapstick routines, elegance, earthiness, deep sadness and conniving manipulations morph the story and drive the characters through a maze of increasing complexity, clashing fantasy and reality."
Exposing children and teens to Shakespeare in a completely accessible production will fee their imaginations and reduce their fear and anxiety about learning more of Shakespeare's and other complex literary works.
