Tennessee Man Wanted in Death of Local Teen at Dacula McDonald's

Police say the suspect shot a man outside a Dacula-area McDonald's then left him in his vehicle to die.

DACULA, GA — Gwinnettt County police are seeking a 21-year old Tennessee man in connection with the shooting death of a local teenager at a Dacula McDonald's.

Gwinnett County Police say Deveric Hardy has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and drug charges. His whereabouts are currently unknown, police said.

Kyree Shakur Smith was found Monday suffering from a gunshot wound in a black passenger car at the McDonald's on Hamilton Mill Road near Dacula. The call to police came at 8:46 p.m.

A Gwinnett County Police officer performed CPR on Smith until a crew from the Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived. Smith was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he died, police say.

In a news release Tuesday, police said they are "looking into the possibility" that the shooting was drug related.
