Tuesday's Storm: Gwinnett Fire Responded To 112 Incidents
A fire in Duluth was caused by the storm when a downed tree sparked a basement electrical fire.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Strong thunderstorms that ripped through Gwinnett County on Tuesday evening were blamed for dozens of emergency calls, from a fire in Duluth to numerous cases of trees downed on houses.
In just a two hour period — from 9-11 p.m. — Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services crews responded to 112 storm-related calls.
Many of those cases involved downed wires or trees, which hit vehicles and homes and blocked roadways, fire officials said.

In Duluth, a basement fire was reported at the 3100 block of Brookshire Way.
Investigators ruled the fire to be storm-related, saying that a downed tree damaged the base of a power meter, sparking an electrical fire.

Fire officials reported 15 incidents of trees being knocked down on houses in Lawrenceville, Snellville, Stone Mountain and Duluth. No injuries were reported in any of those cases.
There was also an incident in which a tree was knocked down onto a vehicle in Snellville. In that case, at the 3100 block of Dove Court, wires were also downed. One child was in the vehicle, but it appeared Tuesday night that no one was injured.
