Weather Alert: Storm With Wind, Hail in the Area

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement concerning a strong thunderstorms in an area that includes parts of Gwinnett and Walton counties.

The weather service said the storm has pea-sized hail and 40 mph winds. The advisory is in effect until 3:15 p.m.

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR PEA SIZED HAIL AND 40 MPH WINDS IN OCONEE...GWINNETT...BARROW...JACKSON AND WALTON COUNTIES UNTIL 315 PM EDT

AT 232 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER EASTERN GWINNETT...NORTHEAST WALTON AND BARROW COUNTIES...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 10 MPH. THESE STORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE PEA SIZED SIZED HAIL... FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH AS THEY MOVE ACROSS OCONEE...GWINNETT...BARROW...JACKSON AND WALTON COUNTIES THROUGH 315 PM EDT
