Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Dalton officials table Willowdale Road subdivision annexation after resident opposition (newschannel9.com) — Dalton residents near Willowdale Road may see changes delayed for a proposed subdivision after the mayor and city council voted to table annexation and rezoning and send the plan back to the Whitfield County Planning and Zoning Commission. Neighbors from Windemere raised concerns about traffic, greenspace, and neighborhood impacts, prompting officials and staff to seek a reworked proposal that could return for a vote as early as December.
2. Data Centers: Dalton Utilities details water usage, power costs, citizens repeat pause request (daltoncitizen.com) — Dalton officials are weighing whether to pause new data center projects while Dalton Utilities details how these massive power users affect water use, electric rates, and city finances. Residents are pressing for a six‑month moratorium and more in‑depth public dialogue, as utility revenue from data centers now significantly offsets local property taxes.
3. Two Tennessee Children Found Safe in Dalton; Two Arrested (fetchyournews.com) — Two children reported abducted from Tennessee were safely located in Dalton after a FLOCK camera alert led local police to a vehicle at the Econo Lodge on North Tibbs Road. Dalton officers arrested two suspects on Tennessee custodial interference warrants, with both now held at the Whitfield County Jail while Tennessee authorities continue the investigation.
4. AdventHealth to Host Community AngioScreen Event at Mack Gaston Community Center (coosavalleynews.com) — Dalton residents can get a quick, noninvasive AngioScreen vascular screening on October 14 at the Mack Gaston Community Center on North Frederick Street. The 10‑minute test checks for stroke and heart disease risk, especially for adults over 55 or anyone with blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, or smoking concerns who wants a clearer picture of cardiovascular health.
5. Rabies vaccine drops scheduled to be distributed across Georgia (wgauradio.com) — Low-flying planes and helicopters will drop oral rabies vaccine baits over Dalton and nearby communities this month as part of a USDA effort to curb wildlife rabies. Between October 7–10, helicopter drops will cover urban and suburban Dalton, so residents may see or find baits but are urged to leave them alone and keep pets' rabies shots current.
