Delta Community Credit Union today presented a total of $7,000 in philanthropic grants to three non-profit organizations in Dekalb County. Each of the organizations share Delta Community’s goal of supporting education, financial literacy and human services. They received three of 30 grants that will be awarded from the Delta Community 2015 Philanthropic Fund.

· A $1,000 grant was awarded to Clarkston Community Center’s Student Success Program, which provides comprehensive educational support to refugee families in the Clarkston community. The Student Success Program includes Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language classes, as well as a free summer camp for young students. The Clarkston Youth Initiative provides leadership training and support to middle and high school students and the After School Program provides free academic support for elementary and middle school students.

· A grant for $2,000 was awarded to the Family Housing Program provided by the United Methodist Children’s Home of the North Georgia Conference. The Family Housing program provides housing and support for 12 families at a time, each of which has at least one child under the age of 17. Each family is provided with a secure home, employment-seeking assistance, guidance through goal-setting and accountability, financial literacy education and enhanced parenting skills.

· $4,000 was awarded to the Family Advocacy | Financial Literacy Program at Our House, which provides emergency shelter housing to homeless families, Early Childhood Education, a Family Advocacy Program, and an employment-readiness program. The goal of Our House programs is to provide homeless families with the resources and support they need to overcome homelessness and to achieve housing, employment and financial independence.
