38 Arrested In Multi-Agency Effort Focused On Active DeKalb Warrants
Charges included aggravated assault with a weapon, vehicular homicide, battery family violence, theft by taking and terroristic threats.
DECATUR, GA — A county-wide operation centered on active DeKalb County warrants ended with 38 people being arrested, authorities said Thursday.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office led Operation Safe Summer 2024, a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of DeKalb deputies and authorities from other metro Atlanta agencies.
The task force attempted to arrest 277 people with active arrest warrants; however, 38 people were arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Jail, authorities said.

Charges included aggravated assault with a weapon, vehicular homicide, battery family violence, theft by taking, terroristic threats, criminal trespass, robbery and felony probation violation, authorities said.
“These arrests mean that a significant number of suspected offenders are now off the streets,” DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a news release. “We are pleased with these results, and we appreciate the participation of our partner law enforcement agencies. Together we can make a measurable impact on crime in our communities. Today the citizens of DeKalb are safer because of this operation.”

The task force included the DeKalb Sheriff’s Field Operations Criminal Process and Uniform Sections and special units from Clayton, Fulton, Henry and Rockdale County Sheriff’s Offices, the DeKalb County Marshals Office, the Stone Mountain Police Department, the DeKalb County State Court Probation Office and DeKalb Community Supervision.
