71-Year-Old Killed In House Fire Near Decatur

The woman was in the home Wednesday morning with two other adults and one teenager, DeKalb fire officials said.

DECATUR, GA — A 71-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in a house fire just east of Decatur, according to county fire officials.

Quinette Ludlam was at the home with two other adults and a teenager when DeKalb Fire & Emergency Services crews were called to the home, in the 1100 block of Mayfield Drive, off of Hwy. 78 between North DeKalb Mall and Interstate 285.

The call was initially a medical call, officials said, but as crews were en route they were informed it was actually a house fire. Firefighters battled flames, then went into rescue mode. They found Ludlam, but were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
