Accused Bloods Gang Member Arrested On Murder Charge

Malcolm Brown was out on bond and skipped court on charges he ordered the murder of two women in Decatur.

DECATUR, GA — A suspected gang member accused of ordering the murder of two women in Decatur has been arrested for a second time after failing to appear in court.

Malcolm Jamal Brown, 30, of Smyrna, is accused of being a member of the Bloods gang who ordered the May 19, 2014 killing of Sonia Williams and Shaniqua Camacho in Decatur. According to prosecutors, Brown ordered underlings in the gang to kill the women after Williams turned down his romantic advances and "disrespected" him.

Brown, of Smyrna, is facing two counts of malice murder, eight counts of violating the street gang act and violation of the racketeering influenced and corrupt organizations act.

He was originally arrested by DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, and later released on $75,000 bond.

DeKalb Sheriff’s investigators located and arrested Brown on Thursday without incident at a Cobb County apartment complex before transporting him to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.

Camacho, a South Carolina resident, was visiting Atlanta where she reconnected with Williams, a friend from middle school. The two were out socializing on the night of the killing.
