DeKalb Clerk Debra DeBerry to host Passport Day Sept. 26 (ocgnews.com) — Decatur residents needing a passport can head to the DeKalb County Courthouse on North McDonough Street this Saturday, Sept. 26, for a special Passport Day with no appointment required. The Superior Court Clerk's office will accept routine and expedited applications from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., in addition to its regular weekday passport services.
3. Solid waste management hosts community cleanup in DeKalb (decaturish.com) — DeKalb County residents can get bulky items hauled away and documents shredded for free during October, including a major shredding event at the Central Transfer Station on Leroy Scott Drive in Decatur. Crews will also tackle illegal dumping, litter, and mowing in unincorporated areas, aiming to spruce up neighborhoods and public spaces across the county.
4. Aubory Bugg Books 2027 North American Tour │ Exclaim! (exclaim.ca) — Folk singer-songwriter Aubory Bugg will kick off her 2027 North American tour at Eddie's Attic in Decatur on February 3, giving local fans the first chance to hear songs from her new album live. The tour then winds through major U.S. cities and two Canadian stops before wrapping in Nashville.
5. Shooting in DeKalb leaves two kids dead, two women injured (decaturish.com) — Two boys, ages 11 and 12, were killed and two women injured in a Sunday shooting at an apartment complex on North Hairston Road in unincorporated DeKalb County, not far from Decatur. Police say the violence may be tied to an earlier dispute and are still investigating, calling the deaths an unimaginable loss for the families and community.
