Avondale Estates Christmas Tour of Homes

Celebrate Christmas in Historic Avondale Estates

Tour the town during the 23rd Annual Avondale Estates Christmas Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 13. Trolleys will be back in town to transport you to six of Avondale’s most interesting homes! Visit the Holiday Market at the Avondale Community Club (noon-6:00) and “Christmas in Avondale: A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols” at the Avondale Estates First Baptist Church (6:30).

Avondale Estates lights up at Christmas! The Tudor Village is outlined in Christmas lights, the “Christmas Tree” in the center of town is brightly lit and the floating Christmas tree on Avondale Lake is one of the prettiest sights around. Festive wreaths surround the vintage lampposts, Berkeley Road residents light the trees along the verge and most of the homes in town are handsomely decorated.

The featured homes on the tour this year include a 1926 “Avondale Original” that was totally renovated in 2006 and updated further this past year, a 50s bungalow that has had several additions to the original two-bedroom home with an extensive renovation this year, and a totally renovated 1960s ranch where the homeowners completed most of the work themselves. Three of Avondale’s newest homes include a two-story home built near Lake Avondale in 2009 and two homes with Craftsman elements that were built next door to each other this year.
