Avondale's 'Erector Set' Building is Going Down
The city has requested that the unfinished structure's owners demolish it.

AVONDALE ESTATES, GA -- Avondale’s ”erector set” building will soon be deconstructed.
The city’s mayor and board of commissioners have requested that Euramex, the current owner of the unfinished steel structure at the corner of East College Avenue and Maple Street, have it demolished.
In 2008, a permit was issued for construction of the building. But soon after that, with the economy in the midst of its downturn, the project was abandoned.

After what the city describes as a multi-year foreclosure, Euramex bought the property at the end of 2014 and, in the words of a city news release, plans “a positive quality redevelopment.”
In the mean time, the city wants the remains of the last development effort gone.
