Three time BMA nominee's The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are "the greatest front-porch blues band in the world". They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider to be the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their ecord Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell. The record was critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Relix, Popmatters, Guitar World, American Songwriter, No Depression, Glide, Wide Open Country, Paste, American Blues Scene and many more! --- Roots music that makes you move. Adrian and Meredith Band is a Nashville-based Bohemian swing-folk act built around rhythm, movement, and the shared experience of live music. Led by married duo Adrian and Meredith Krygowski, the band draws from Americana, swing, soul, polka, and global folk traditions

The Lake House at Avondale Estates

Our 49th Annual Christmas Tour will be on Sunday, December 13, 2026 from 2:00-8:00. To celebrate the Centennial in Avondale Estates, six homes, all built in 1926 will open their doors for the tour. Together, the homes represent the diverse architectural styles that helped shape the city in its earliest years, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience these historic residences decorated for the holidays. Together, these homes tell a larger story about Avondale Estates: historic houses that continue to evolve while retaining the architectural details, memories and neighborhood connections that make them special. From lovingly preserved original rooms to thoughtful modern additions and richly personal interiors, the tour celebrates not only the homes themselves, but the people who continue to make Avondale Estates a distinctive place to live.
The Avondale Holiday Market will be from noon-6:00 and will include most of the old favorites selling their scarves, pecans, jewelry, photography, bird feeders, smoked salmon, jams and ornaments.
You may purchase pre-sale tour tickets at Finders Keepers Consignment, Garage Door Studio and Decatur Intown Ace Hardware for $20 or online at bigtickets.com and the Avondale Lake House on the day of the tour for $25
Tour buses will pick up passengers at the downtown parking lot at 6 Lake Street for those who have reserved a spot. Be sure to sign up for an afternoon tour (2:00, 2:30, 3:00) or an evening tour (4:30, 5:00, 5:30) at Finders Keepers Furnishings or contact Margaret at mplcvl@aol.com to reserve a spot.

🌞 Now Enrolling for HCCA Summer Camp 2026!

Higher Calling Christian Academy

Higher Calling Christian Academy (HCCA) is a faith-based learning community located in South DeKalb County dedicated to helping children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Summer Camp 2026 theme, “Choose Your Adventure: A Summer of Discovery at HCCA,” gives families the flexibility to enroll their child for the entire summer or select individual weeks based on their child’s interests. Throughout the summer, campers ages 5–12 will experience engaging, hands-on learning through themed weeks focused on gardening and sustainability, STEAM exploration, sports and teamwork, entrepreneurship, leadership, and creative discovery. Campers will participate in exciting activities including outdoor exploration, science experiments, engineering challenges, team games, creative arts, field trips, and youth business projects. A strong focus of our summer program is literacy and enrichment. Campers will participate in daily reading and enrichment activities designed to strengthen comprehension, creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills. As part of our literacy initiative, campers will visit the local public library twice each week to participate in summer reading opportunities, explore new books, and develop a love for reading and learning. What makes HCCA unique is our commitment to combining fun, enrichment, and purpose in a supportive Christian-centered environment. We strive to support the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of every child while encouraging creativity, confidence, leadership, and exploration. Families appreciate our flexible enrollment options, affordable pricing, extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., three meals provided daily, and CAPS acceptance.
