Hello again, everybody! It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the Decatur-Avondale Estates Daily. Keep reading for the most important things happening in town these days.

First, today's weather:

A p.m. t-storm in spots. High: 97 Low: 76.

Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:

  1. The Decatur community has raised over $44,000 in an effort to support the family of the 36-year-old mobile locksmith, Peter McGrath, who was found dead in his burning work van earlier this month. The police are still investigating the case and looking for suspects, but the cause of death has been confirmed to be a homicide. His wife, Amber, started a GoFundMe, and since, due to the kindness of the community, a large sum of money has been raised to help his family during their grieving. (Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch)
  2. Head over to Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta this weekend for the 10th annual Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival! The festivities will be full of good music, lots of fun, and celebrations of Black culture. The action will begin on Friday at noon in the park, which will be followed on Saturday with the Juneteenth Atlanta Black History Parade. Even if you can't make it in person this weekend, the events will be live-streamed as well, so you can join in on the celebrations from anywhere! (CBS 46 News)
