Decatur Man Arrested in Alabama For Allegedly Transporting Marijuana

Police say Brandon Wilmot Reames was arrested after officers found 11 pounds of marijuana while he was driving on I-20.

A Decatur man was arrested on Monday in Alabama after police found 11 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle, as well as two handguns.

Brandon Wilmot Reames, 27, is facing drug trafficking and weapons charges, according to AL.com.

Police say Reames was arrested around 5 pm on Monday on I-20 west after he was stopped for several traffic violations. Reames reportedly told police he was headed to Mississippi.

Heflin, AL, Police Chief A.J. Benefield said Reames was acting nervously, and refused officers' request to search his vehicle.

A K-9 police dog was then brought to the scene. Officers say they eventually discovered the marijuana in Reames' trunk, sealed in plastic and smeared in grease, as well as a 9 mm pistol and a Smith & Wesson pistol.

Reames is being held in the Cleburne County Jail on a $1.5 million bond.
